How to start or claim a community

This article walks you through requesting admin access and creating your community.

Written by Martin Smith

Who can request admin access?

You can request admin access if you are a:

  • Priest

  • Parish leader (for example, a pastoral coordinator or ministry head)

  • Collaborator (for example, a staff member or volunteer with official responsibilities)

Tabella verifies every request so that only legitimate representatives become admins.

Before you begin

Your Tabella account needs to have:

  • A verified email address

  • A verified phone number

  • A clear profile picture

How to start a community

  1. Log in to your Tabella account in the mobile app.

  2. On the home screen, scroll through the community tabs and tap Start Community.

  3. Read and accept the terms and conditions.

  4. Select the type of community: parish, group or organization.

    • Parish: Type the name of your parish or browse the nearby results. When you find your parish, tap it to start the claiming process. [What to do if your parish isn't listed.]

    • Group: Choose whether your group is public (anyone can join freely and see its posts) or private (best for ministry leadership; people request to join and a group admin approves them, and only members can see posts). For more on groups, see How to add a group to your community.

    • Organization: Philanthropic organizations or non-profits.

  5. Verify your account with a short video. Follow the on-screen instructions and clearly state your name, your role at your parish, and the name of your diocese.

  6. Choose a community cover. Pick a photo of your church, your organization's logo, or anything that identifies your community and its members.

  7. Wait for approval. Our moderation team reviews each request manually. You will receive an email letting you know once your admin access is active.

What happens after approval

Once you're approved, you can manage posts, create groups and edit times. You won't need to verify again when you create other communities.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to record the video every time?
No. Once your first request is approved, you won't need to verify again to create other communities.

What should I say in my video?
State your full name name, your role at your parish, and the name of your diocese. Speak clearly and make sure your face is well lit.

I can't find my parish. What should I do?
[Add answer once confirmed. The old article suggested sharing Tabella with other community members to speed up creation. Keep that tip only if it still applies.]
